The Holiday Inn Biltmore East is a short distance from our wedding venue. For guests who would like it, we will provide a shuttle for transportation to and from the wedding.
Dress
Most importantly, we want our guests to be comfortable. Please be aware that our ceremony will be held outside in a grassy field. Ellen does not recommend wearing high heels on this terrain--we do not want any injuries at our wedding! While we are hoping for warm weather, please be aware that it may be chilly. The average high for Swannanoa on November 11 is 60°F, and the average low is 33°F. A reception including dinner, drinks, and dancing will be held in a heated and enclosed tent with a permanent cement floor.

Warren Wilson College is our next door to Hidden River Events. They have 1100 acres, including a cattle and pig farm and chicken house. It’s a great thing to do with the kids, young or old. There is also access to 25 miles of hiking trails.
Directions to the pig farm:
From Hidden River, go back out to Warren Wilson College Road and turn right.
Go to the “Service Entrance” (Just before the South Entrance…if you
see it, you’ve gone too far.)
Take the Service Entrance all the way until it ends at the farm.
Park and get out by the farm buildings. You’ll see the pigs, hear them, and can wander around to the piggery and see baby pigs if there are any. You can buy fresh eggs on an honor system in the farm house. The farm manager’s name is Chase Hubbard. Tell him or any of the students that you know Jeanne Sommer (our officiant) if you go down there.
